How many children are in the swim classes?

If your child is between 2 to 4 years of age they are in a 2:1 ratio (2 children to 1 instructor). If your child is 5 or older they are in a 3:1 ratio. If your child is in level 3 or higher they are in a 3:1 ratio, regardless of age.

At what age can my child start swim lessons?

We recommend that your child have head control before starting a parent and tot class, usually at 3 to 6months. At 2 years old a child may start the preschool program without a parent in a 2:1 ratio.

How long are the classes at Swim Time?

All daytime classes are 30 minutes (excluding summer). All weekend and evening classes are 45 minutes.

How warm is your pool and is it a salt water pool?

All our pools are kept at 88 degrees and yes, they are all salt water.

Can all my children have classes at the same time?

Yes, we will do our best to ensure that all family members are enrolled in swim classes at the same time.

Can I request an instructor?

Yes, we will do our best to accomodate instructor requests. However, if that instructor is not available, Swim Time will choose an instructor with a similar teaching style to the instructor that you requested.

What types of payment do you accept?

We accept cheques, debit, Visa and Mastercard.

What if I need to cancel a swim session that I already registered for?

There are NO refunds.
Cancellation prior to the start of the session will result in the loss of your deposit. However, once the session begins and full payment has been made, a credit will only be given for medical reasons, which must be supported by written cancellation and a Doctor’s note. A $50 administration fee, plus the cost of classes used up to the date of written notification, will be deducted from the credit issued.

Is there a discount for more than one child?

Yes, we offer one of the following discounts for every family:

  1. If you are registering two children, there is a $10 discount for the second child.
  2. If you are registering three or more children, we offer 10% off the total cost.

Can I change a class after i’ve already registered?

Yes, you can always change to a different day or time if there is space available. A $15 change fee will apply per child.

Do you allow make-up classes if I miss a class?

Yes, we have designated days for make-up classes and Swim Time allows one make-up class per child per session. We do not need to be notified beforehand. Once a class has been missed, you can call and we’ll help you schedule a make-up class.

What happens if Swim Time has to cancel a class?

Occasionally, Swim Time may have to close for reasons such as weather, pool fouling or mechanical issues. We will do our best to notify all customers as soon as possible. A make-up class will be issued to all students for the current session.

Do you have separate changerooms?

We have three separate changerooms in both our Woodbridge and Thornhill locations: one for girls, one for boys and a changeroom for families.

Our Pickering location has one family change room with individual change stalls and cubicles.

What happens after my child completes Red Cross Swim Kids level 10?

If your child is 12 or older, they can start the Bronze program. However, if your child has completed Swim Kids 10 and is not yet 12 years of age, the Swim Patrol is a great swim program which prepares them for the Bronze class. Why should I choose Swim Time instead of my community centre?

Swim Time offers lower ratios, warmer water, and the Red Cross Swim Kids program. Swim Time feels each student is an individual and we will work with each one to achieve their goals.

How do I register?

You can register one of the following ways:
